I'm just saying that if the HDD inside is laptop-sized then you can then use SATA cables to connect any HDD from the outside, considering how regular HDDs are cheaper than those that fit in laptops.

Do SATA extension cables induce lag? You could always do what I said above, and get a couple of those cables to connect any HDD from the outside. Regular 1TB HDDs are not that expensive anyways.

Alright, here is a question for those who know more about this stuff than I do:

Kotaku is a blog, not a news outlet. The people who work here are not reporters, they are bloggers. It's not their job to be objective about the things they write about, so it's more than ok for them to say what they think about that stuff.
