Garrus is that you?

Are we sure about that?

There. Fixed.

The thing about Constantine is that he's not even really an anti-hero. He fucks everything up because he's cocky and doesn't know what he's doing. People around him get hurt and die. Constantly. When he does do something heroic it's in a shitty, underhanded way. That's what makes him interesting.

That's partly how you know he's really John Constantine. That she didn't smack him for doing so is the other reason. He's JC that way.

I'm not 100% sure if it qualifies as sci-fi, but Strange Luck. Why the hell isn't this show on DVD? It had the best premise ever, which was to have a guy who attracted really weird coincidences. Its first season made it an instant classic. It was like one part Buffy\Angel, one part Ghostbusters, and directed by Kevin Smith.

Space Above and Beyond.

I regard Space: Above and Beyond as a really well executed 1st season, especially considering it aired in the early 90s. Farscape's first season was immediate magic for me, too. Sort of cheating because I actually don't think A:TLA has a single bad episode in it's entire run.

You can argue that it's a bit sci-fi right, they did go to Space and Sea-Lab later on.

Also Bionic-Barry.

Luther. As a huge Idris Elba fan this one, I even have to notice when the next seasons are noticeably worse than how it was first presented and with the challenges faced in season one. It became clear as the next season began they were running out of ideas and this is sad, but on the other hand we can say this helped

Whatever you think about how it ended or the directions it took, the first season was solid sci-fi with a great balance keeping the mysticism at arm's length, while still nodding to it. While the show had later stand-out moments (Galactica atmosphere jump), the first season was the most solid that knew where it came
