I only started reading HH because of the short story version of 'Out of the Dark' that was published in the 'Warriors' anthology. Marvelous. Wonderful. Needless to say, the novel version, while still interesting, is not nearly as good.
At this point, it's easy to skip past the long 'pizza-ordering' passages - cf this

Don't invite them back, they might bring Piers Morgan with them.

I'm not quite at the point of dumping the "Honorverse," but yeah, he's milking it now. I think his biggest problem right now is that he can't let go of the title character. In the foreword to Storm From The Shadows, he admits that the plan was to kill her off during the Battle of Manticore in At All Costs. He then

Yes , yes and yes ! Make it like the BSG reboot mixed with Starship Troopers. Have the main characters be from multiple Colonial Spec Ops platoons where most of them die by insane alien weaponry, (mile wide genetically altered floating jellyfish who rain down hydrochloric acid). Maybe make it where the aliens are

Personally, I think it would work a lot better if Krypton wasn't exploded, per se, but instead had all life wiped out. It still keeps the whole "immigrant without a home or people to return to" theme, but having a barren wasteland to return to (sparingly, of course) could have a lot of potential.

Less tea and more a pint or five.

The Blues Brothers has always been my go to movie. When I was sick as a child I would curl up on the couch and watch The Blues Brothers. Besides that I still watch the original Dawn of the Dead a lot, Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead have become faves and Ferris Bueller's Day off.
