Ever since the R'lyeh market bubble sank back in 08 the cost versus rewards have been way off with Cthulhu, sure you can try and hire him. But I bet within three weeks you'll discover he's been consuming some other civilisation when he's supposed to on your dime. I mean I can understand the need to work two jobs in

Look we all know laser turrets will do the job ok. But if they want real peace of mind then a moat filled with genetically engineered cyborg piranhas is the only way to go. Sure some customers are bound to fall in from time to time, but I think we can all agree that that's a small price in comparison to keeping games

I've never understood why certain people in the United States seem so enamoured to their healthcare system as it currently stands. I mean the system as it currently stands seems to incentivise those within the system to deny treatment to those who really need it but can't afford it, and inflate treatment for those who

As long as the writers and producers are fans of the series, know what they're doing, and keep David Webber away from production at all costs a series could work rather well.

Neverwinter Nights 2, without any of the expansions, it pretty good. The storyline is your general fantasy schlock, evil undead thingy, Neverwinter in peril, go kill things. But it has a few cool moments and some interesting characters that make the ride enjoyable. It's probably Obsidians worst game in terms of

I really just had to share this because it makes me giggle.

In one sense of the word gratuitous I think you could include pretty much every Superhero death in the boys, as no one goes out easy in that comic.

Ironically enough Xena popped up on Netflix earlier this week (here in the UK at least) and overcome by childish nostalgia I started watching it again. And whilst I remember it being fun to watch, I have to admit that I don't remember it looking so very, very, cheap and tacky. Everything looks like it's made out of

I am tempted by a full rebuild, if nothing else my CPU is getting on a bit at close to three years old now. Whilst my case itself, despite being pretty damn good, is also showing its age thanks to the front USB ports both having died after a good six years of use. At the same time though costing it for a really good

High five for also having a GTX 460! =D

It would be marvelous, though personally I'd do away with the fighting on both land and in space (because combat pilots shouldn't be wasted on routine ground ops) and just have it following a company of Marines during a war in space, perhaps in the style of Band of Brothers/Generation Kill.

To be honest, I think the single biggest flaw of the movie is that it treats technology as a handwave to keep the plot moving along as swiftly as possible without any thoughts or considerations for attempting to build up tension and thus emotional impact.

It is tempting to spoiler things. Alas as a gentleman I must hold my peace for now. Though it is odd that it came out in the UK, Australia and New Zealand so far in advance of America.

Has io9 posted up a review of Star Trek into Darkness so I can give my spoilery thoughts in the comments. Given that I saw it today my urge to talk about it is quite high and I can't remember whether io9 have seen an early release of the film and reviewed it and I've just forgotten about it.

Though having said all that, I suspect it would be truer to say that the Imperium of Man is the best Space Army of them all when you combine all it's constituent parts. The Navy, for all it's relatively antiquated and tradition bound roots is stupendously powerful, the Guard is so large it's difficult to actually wrap

Before the Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus, before the fleets of the Imperial Navy, before the Righteous Armoured Fist of the Imperial Space Marines there is the Guard. They are the first and the last line of defence. Billions die each day in defence of humanity and untold billions more step forward to take

If Defiance can up it's game to Deadwood's standards then I'm pretty sure it will go down in history as the greatest genre show ever made. It's nowhere near that yet though, unfortunately.

I believe it's a bit of rhyming slang. Septic tank = Yank. But because these are aussies and it's too damned hot to deal with saying two words it gets shortened to seppos.

Ok, assuming that this takes place in the new continuity here is my idea for a new Trek.

Dunno why, but I can watch Animal House once a day and still love it every time. Same with the Blues Brothers.
