I liked that in the DCAU , we never actually saw the straightforward, literal, deception of their deaths. It was always a grim allusion, or an exaggerated vision from Bruce's POV that focused on conveying on what it felt like rather than just showing us what happened.

What gets me is that there is very clear protocol for aircraft if this sort of communication failure happens, and the writers just threw reality out the window.

If the designer/director believe that a female party character won't add anything to his game, then he should not feel guilty about doing that. Nobody needs to feel that they should follow a certain social ethics so that they are forced to add a token character in the game just to please entitled gamers.
