The SOHC Ford is question is an old Ford big block, not a mod motor. Sometime back in the 60s Ford designed a SOHC engine to use in NASCAR to compete with the Chrysler Hemi. NASCAR promptly banned it. It was never saw use in real production models. Ofter referred to as the Ford Cammer.

What is the point of having “rock crawl” mode start in 2nd gear? The point of a low range transfer case is to gain additional gearing. Starting in 2nd gear seems to negate that.

but the updated KO2s were just released last year. The KO2 has significantly improved sidewall strength and a tweaked tread that is better in mud and snow. They also added stone ejectors to the tread.
