This one is easy. Cars are lasting longer, and more expensive to buy, so people buy less often. Unless you absolutely have to have the newest safety features, a 10 year old car is going to have the same features as a brand new car.

Based on people I’ve known, I’d say the ultimate dad car is some generic, old, beat-up, barely-running rustbucket. The money that they could have put toward a nicer car instead went to nice things for the family, at least until they knew how big the family was going to be and had a good amount of money stashed away…

BMW has been one of the last holdouts offering manual transmissions on their cars, and they didn’t only put them in base models. You can get a 2019 M6 Gran Coupe with a manual. You could get F10 V8 5 series with manual. While it sucks to see the new 3 series lose the manual, Mercedes and Audi have given it up…
