So if she had been turned away from buying a $40 purse, her experience would be somehow more valid? Or more meaningful?
I don't think Oprah was asking anyone to shed a tear for her. I thought it was pretty clear that her point was that racism still affects everyone, no matter how wealthy or famous they become. She even said that the way she experiences is far more subtle than how others do because of her power in society, but even she…
Racism is real oppression, even when it happens to a rich person.
Store owner Trudie Gotz said sorry for the incident but said it was due to a misunderstanding rather than racism.
Well, black people aren't exactly scarce on college campuses outside of HBCUs across the board, and if my memory of data serves, are about as represented as Latino students (if not still pulling larger percentages) at nonprofit 4-year colleges. I mean, I'm in an extremely small PhD program in the liberal arts and ...…
You sassed Tracy, didn't you? Typical. Her posts are frequently questionable, but the posts bother me less than her thin skin when it comes to criticism and her heavy hand when it come to 'moderating' those that call her on shit.

They're sharp, comfortable, cute as all hell and pretty affordable!
I feel your pain; before I got new knives, I was using the same set of Ikea knives for FIVE YEARS (without sharpening them). This is the set I have, and I've been pretty pleased with it. (My mom bought it at Macy's for me as a Christmas gift, so while I didn't personally pick it out, I think it's pretty good!) Komachi…
Fun Science Fact: because of their distinct head shape, hammerheads are the only member of Selachii who can sense menstruation through the screen; so to avoid becoming prey whilst watching Shark Week, sit at least 150 yards away from the tv, spray about the area of your lap eucalyptus-scented air-freshener (Navy tests…
