I’ve never understood the aversion to cutting fingernails.  Unless they go shooting all over the place, neatly trimming your fingernails (and disposing of the clippings in the trash) is not some intimate grooming thing that needs to be hidden away

Right, most of the comments from locals are “Yea, I also hate when people do X bathroom routine on the train”.  Those stories are generally not about the homeless, they are about commuters who are wildly inconsiderate.  I have definitely been on trains with people in suits who shave, cut finger nails, use hair spray,…

From what I saw, most of the comments were “can you believe that this commuter is shaving on the train?” and weren’t shaming him...certainly not for being homeless. I don’t think any of the commenters realized that this guy was homeless. Riding NJ Transit gives you some interesting perspective on human behavior.
