I'm not amberkey, but I feel like I should point out that from what I've seen, you've got it backwards: far too many people would not accept a non-white, non-male 12th Doctor.

You're using the word "tokenism" incorrectly. "Token" characters are usually minor or accessory characters having no have function to the plot. But the Doctor drives the plot of "Doctor Who." Casting a female or minority actor as the Doctor would not be tokenism, it would be a meaningful commitment to diversity.
