The motivation is that it is interesting. I've never heard of this type of syndrome, and I'd wager that most of Jezebel's audience is in that same boat.

For all of you just saying she's crazy, should be committed or whatever, please realize that she is experiencing actual pregnancy symptoms. There was a great-aunt on my dad's side who apparently went through something like this back in the '40s. She wasn't pregnant and it was conclusively proven she'd never been

Ah, so you think she doesn't have actual appointments, she is just crashing these doctors offices? Because where I am at, you don't even get an appointment without them running your insurance. And I doubt you'd get to see an actual doctor if you just showed up.

Asperger's Syndrome doesn't cause delusions, isn't really a mental illness, and would have nothing to do with her having pregnancy symptoms.

Spoiler alert: She's not pregnant.

The unfortunate problem is there's virtually no way 20 medical professionals are incorrect, where as she feels "When I research something, I get really, really into it." is a justifiable medical license to diagnose yourself.

Somehow that was my biggest question through all of this as well.

My best guess would be that at some point in the next month or two, when she has to change her delusions because at 7-8 months it will be obvious to even her, she'll have a "very heavy flow" and be utterly convinced for the rest of her life it was a very late miscarriage caused by all the mental anguish she was put

How does she have money to see all these doctors?

Wait....a guy with a stellar personality and talent gets famous, then uses his success for good to save babies like a real-life goddamn superhero? Stop. Nothing that wonderful happens these days.

Been through exactly what he's talking about. I'm the daddy of twin preemie girls (3 lbs 1 oz and 2 lbs 10 oz) at 31 weeks. It was super scary in a lot of ways, but I feel like it made me a better dad. Now they're happy, silly, wonderful 2 1/2 year olds and it's fantastic.

I would have put the cat down. Sorry, my baby's health > all the cats. I don't like cats, they are gross, and a sick old cat with incontinence is the last thing you want around a newborn. He's a goddamn saint for finding it a home, tbh.

Glad you made it to share this story.

Yeah, toxoplasmosis is a real thing and can be very damaging to the fetus and the mother. Soooooo. Educate yourself before blathering on.

Bless your heart.

He found a loving home for his cat? How fucking dare he! Ugh! /s

One of my father's favorite stories to tell is when he first held me after I was born premature. I was in an oxygen tent for over a week and they didn't think I was going to make it, but somehow I did. Still, the nurses were worried when I refused to open my eyes.

Cat shit can be extremely dangerous to both pregnant women and newborn babies. So stop being a twit. Seriously.

Every single time Chris Pratt is brought up, there's always at least one person reminding everyone that he once found another loving home for a cat with needs that he could not accommodate anymore. I guess it's you this time.

I thought the title read "prematurely boring son" and I was like, dude, Isha, you COLD.
