Yes, it’s a conservative myth, but it’s long baffled me why it isn’t used as a petard to relentlessly hoist conservatives by. If they’re so nostalgic for the traditional family, why have they been in the vanguard of the policies that have shaped the economy to make it impossible for the vast majority of American

I think there’s a dragon for each of our three principle heroes, all of whom are Targaryen: Dany, Jon, and Tyrion. But while Dany was able to bond with Drogon, having had him from hatching, and Tyrion’s in a position to train his dragon (at least on the show; in the books I suspect Tyrion will bond with his dragon by

They’re from down under Down Under.

Re: my “the only hitch” post below, I’ve actually imagined something like the Silence of the Lambs switcharoo as how Arya could pull that off while staying true to the prophesy: Cersei sees someone who isn’t Tommen killed; thank the gods her Tommen is still alive; embraces Tommen; Tommen chokes her to death—i.e., the

The only hitch is that the prophesy also says that Cersei watches her children die, so if this is how it goes down, there might have to be a chain of events such that it would tragically dawn on Cersei as “Tommen” was choking the life out of her not only that this isn’t Tommen, but that a death she witnessed and

A detail I never watched the show enough to catch, so for the longest time I was all “what is this shit?” until someone hipped me to that fact.

I know there was an explanation for the apartment they all lived in in Friends (rich relative? can’t remember), but I’ve thought it could be interesting for someone to shoot scene-for-scene episodes of that show in an apartment it would actually be plausible for those people to be living in while working whatever jobs

Sarah McDaniel has an arresting (distracting?) case of heterochromia:

No, this is not as it should be.

My mom ordered this for me for Christmas in 1977. Obviously it never occurred to 5 yo me to keep it pristine for resale today.

Those are good potato chips.

Doesn’t stand up to Larson in Short Term 12.

Yeah, it’s such a specious comparison. Lawrence may end her career as much the bigger star/box-office draw, but Larson could well be remembered as one of the greatest actresses of her generation. That’s no knock on Lawrence, but she’s not in Larson’s league at all.

Identity is the best overall movie, but the third one has some of the series’ best set-pieces. The Tangiers sequence is the best action sequence of the whole series, IMO.

Meanwhile, no one’s complaining about this:

I caught it right away too. It’s catchable, and may as well be catchable (as well as missable) by design, in which case catching it early means that “it” isn’t a twist, it’s a heavier note of expectation and dread, not to mention a matter of especial interest as, being alerted more or less to “what’s going on,” we
