A large part of it, for me, is that it's exhausting having most protagonists/sympathetic characters in TV, movies, books, and video games being male. That's what I grew up on: having to relate to male characters because there were few female characters overall and fewer that weren't horrible walking tropes. It gets

Things start picking up in the third book. I recently read through them to get ahead of the show as well (and to see what all was changed) and the first two books were the hardest for me to get through. They're also the two books that the show follows the closest, so once you get to the third book you kind of know

While it's a fun theory (and possibly plausible this time), it does ignore that Disney has been putting easter eggs from older movies into new movies for a long time now.

I forgot about the cartoon!

Oh god, at work I have customers think I'm a guy every 6 months or so (well, the ones I know of, there's probably more that didn't say anything) because I am tiny and my work shirt hides what little I have. It doesn't matter that I have long hair (not that I'm saying long hair is ideal for women, but most customers

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and call the uniform both dangerous for those in it and passengers.

Considering flight attendants are the only ones standing between getting out of a dangerous situation alive or going down in chaotic, possibly fiery death for passengers, they definitely need to have a uniform that doesn't prevent them from doing their job.

On one hand, I'm glad that this provides them mental stimulation that odds are they're lacking. On the other, they shouldn't be in captivity in the first place.

Ugh, I hate it when toilets don't have an override to flush. Would it really be so hard to have a button on the toilet or wall to hit for when the sensor is busted or a second flush is needed?

I've given up on coming out of the greys on Jez. NuKinja certainly doesn't help that.

Europe includes the VAT in the price, taxes aren't included in US or Canadian prices. The VAT is typically at least 20%, which is higher than even the 15% PST/GST in certain provinces in Canada.
As I recall, there's also higher import fees or other things that add up to increase the price of goods in Europe — plus the

Like shmuga9 said, retailers — both brick and mortar and online — in the US don't ship to Canada usually. They just direct you to their Canadian branch if they have one, which comes with inflated prices and less selection.

The cost of living (and cost of goods) eats up the difference, especially if you live in the west or Quebec.

Books highlight this really well.

From what I've heard of this, they play an animation so it's like you're going up the Wall in the rickety cage, then something happens and you have to "descend" rapidly. Between the Rift and headphones and wind machines, it's so realistic some people freak right out, especially during the descending part.

Exactly. I got the same impression from the OP's post.

Of course! Obviously groups that routinely get targeted both online and in reality should just suck it up and deal because it's too much to ask people not be complete assholes! And clearly slurs that have a history of violence and murder behind them are the same as calling someone an asshole or fucker!

These are the men who have perfected the art of doublethink and put 1984 to shame — believing both is pretty much how they think when it comes to anything women do. That way they can always blame women for everything and never have to admit that they weren't perfect or did anything wrong.
