That looks suspiciously like Sausalito, CA where I used to see a fair number of Interceptors and Jensen-Healeys running around when I was a kid...

Can confirm that the Gillig Phantom was cushy and easy to drive.

Almost as breathtakingly ugly as the Silverado Heavy Duty!

We experienced one of those hot seats in our ‘68 Squareback. My mom lost her shit, somewhat unsurprisingly, at the smoke emanating from the area under my ass.

Should have read “don’t want a $30k + pickup” to occasionally haul...

I don’t hate it, and it definitely provides a solution for people who don’t want to occasionally haul some plywood or mulch or whatever.

No shit? Tam High?

It wasn’t necessarily intended as a compliment, rather a statement that airports can be found in otherwise incredibly unremarkable places.

Came here to say this. It’s probably the best known stopping point on I-5. And as another Jalop mentioned, it has it’s own damn airport (just like Nut Tree!).

I actually saw a sticker on one of these doors that said “I know it’s open”.

Bravo France. A great idea when you have the robust rail infrastructure and relatively short travel distances of Europe.

I drove tomato trucks in the ‘80s here in Cali, and if the truck is a cabover, then definitely no. If it’s a conventional truck, then it’s a bit more likely, but I feel like I would have noticed a collision like that, even if it were something as small as a MINI.

Oh good lord a thousand times Yes. I lived in Berlin for 6 years in the ‘80s and ate at least 3 or 4 a week. The best Döner in the world is found in Kreuzberg!

Yes. “Amazing”.

Can confirm the hiding keys trick. A local VW dealership here in Sacramento - which shall remain nameless - hired me as a salesperson, and on the first day of training we were told to take the keys to customer’s trade-in to the finance manager’s office and not bring them back when they wanted to leave.

Taco pizza is perfectly legit. It’s not always available but when it shows up at my local pizza place (Mark and Monica’s in Carmichael, CA), I have to get it a few times.

OK, believe it or not, I’ve owned 2 of those: a ‘73 and a ‘75 (learned to drive manual in the ‘75) and I never found it necessary to remove the front seats - however that was 40 years and 30 lbs. ago, so...

Definitely more practical but more expensive and nowhere near as cool as a tiny RHD vehicle that’s adorable AF :)

I would love a Kei truck or van, but at 6'4" it seems unlikely I could wedge myself into one and drive it. Hell, I was claustrophobic in a Mk I Golf so a Sambar would be absurd.

Anyone voting NP on this thing has never driven one. It’s easily the crappiest vehicle I’ve ever driven.
