Good response but i think the original SL has a bone to pick with you haha

I want this mini more than any other.... except maybe a 2008 jcw...

Ive read that you can compost PLA supports to an extent. Also support amount depends on the part and slice orientation.

Less Popular opinion but worked for me. Get your kid something reliable but beat up enough to want to spend his own time/money improving it. Like someone else said, kids drive better when theyve spent their money on something.

Mine had the dreaded intake manifold leak that let oil back into the coolant, albeit very slowly. Realized about 4 hours into my cross country trip. Through in a bottle of oil stop leak and checked it every fill up. But it made it.

I dont know... i drove a 1400 dollar astro van across the country a few years back and i thought it was just fine for the purpose it was made for. It had ~160K, leaked oil like a sieve and i still managed 22mpg.

The renesis was not a great engine but it revs to 9k rpm which means it can not be shitty. Its biggest demerits are that it had to be maintained in way that people were unaccustomed to and that it was put in a bloated 2+2.

Sounds like you’ve

440? The current cars (3/Y) use something like 10 times that many, and i think older (S/X) architectures use even more!

Teslas implementation of their solar roof material. I think the overall concept has merit, however i think the idea of hundreds of shingles with multiple conections is stupendously dumb. I am also not a fan of teslas powerwall ecosystem in general but thats a different story.

As an EE that’s been in the industry for a long time, Solar roof tiles are a terrible idea on so many levels.  But in short they create way too many electrical connections!  Pun very much intended

My mom owns a crosstrek PHEV and absolutely loves it. Ive taken it wheeling in the mountains and out into deep sand. Not my first choice but she averages ~90mpg (according to the car) and we charge it with our solar. I think its a great compromise considering our terrible roads, the high cost of power where we live,

You ever stop at Wall Drug?

You say that but...

That constant side wind is literal torture.

Any one else curious if one could be grafted onto a crx?

I’ve only driven an AP1 and it definitely did not redline 2nd at 60, more like 70-75. I am very curious now though, was yours an AP2? I drove a gsr trans equipped (stock) b16 crx last week and it seems like it felt like it had way shorter gears.  Heck, my 85 crx si rallycross car felt way shorter.

Have you driven any of these cars? All new cars feel neutered in comparison to their counterparts from the early 2000s. STIs and WRX are not that exciting in stock form and s2000's have such long gear ratios that you dont need to shift beyond 3rd on good back road. I’ve only driven the twins a few times but the skinny

Expensive...

Does it need two motors though? My stock 85 Si just won my local scca rallycross outright.... beating subarus, toyotas, a raptor, and host of other cars with double the power.
