I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but in case you are maybe consider that I am a professional race engineer and driver coach. 'Wiggling the wheel' to establish traction is not a valid technique, no matter how convincingly you have tried to make it work and the opinions of a bunch of (with respect)…
That's pretty impressive. I don't know any driver that doesn't/wouldn't jump at the chance to get in these old beasts from a bygone time. Love those GT40s.
This is just not true. This idea that you wiggle the wheel to tell how much traction you have is ridiculous and counter productive. It will actively reduce grip and traction and is something to be associated with drivers with no real skill and no ability to tell how much grip you have anyway. Any driver with skill can…
if hes using a shoulder belt, then he wont drive beyond that belts capability.
That's how a race car should be - all kinds of frenetic and crazy from the outside, but calm and measured from the inside (watch his hands, not much fast hand movement or major wheel corrections other than on power in the hairpins).
Rescinded a few years ago.
Meh. 2.7g is good, but not AMAZING. Becketts corner at Silverstone in an F1 car is a 4.5G/-4.5G combo - 9 g difference in cornering force in a couple of seconds....
All about the sponsor logos.....
My god, that was a horrible downshift in the beginning of that video.
I don't think you'd endear yourself to the dealership if you start leaping all over their brand new car, you know.
The approach is to make F1 cheaper. Money is the only barrier to freedom of driver choice.
It has absolutely no problem attracting them - they're practically bouncing off the front doors to get in.
Ah, the eternal Danica debate. Ok, here's where I weigh in on this. I saw Danica race in the early days in England when she was 18 and I've watched her career since.
"Even being someone who can pretty consistently put times in the top 10% of the nation means absolutely nothing in these events."
I did my industrial placement from Uni at Aston Martin for 6 months (back when it was all still at Newport Pagnell). So I have seen more than my fair share of Astons. The DB4 Zagato is not only the best looking (although the DB5 is just gorgeous) but also it doesn't look anywhere near as good in pictures as it does in…
No, you're not on fire. That's airbag fumes.
These are guys with no money that want to race but can only do so in an incredibly cheap car (that is, admittedly, a hunk of crap). It is not on the 'ladder' in any way as a series.
"it's still a street car with a live axle."
That's a full track prepared Mustang, though! At least, according to the spec, it is. With 597 HP. Put it up against a track prepared Ferrari (or even a Corvette with the track coileover kit) and it'd probably eat its lunch.
