One thing the robot can do that a dog can’t, is to notify somebody that is outside of the facility when something doesn’t look right. The robot can do its “rounds” automatically, and only needs attention when the criteria exceeds some limit.

A locking diff doesn’t stop the wheels from rotating when it “locks”, it only stops them from being different. It’s not the same as locking the brakes. But it might help by NOT stopping the wheels, just like ABS but more mechanical. (See JBT’s description above.)
