I have to agree. While the old 2D games still have a certain charm, like cartoons (just look at how popular the “retro” look is in the indie world)... early true 3D stuff was largely junk, and in terms of raw visual detail, the adoption of 3D engines actually resulted in a *loss* of detail compared to their forebears.

Yeah, I think maybe the issue is... they look a bit more like “creatures” than mutant humans. Too animalistic, like they crawled out of a swamp. Oddly, humans are way more tolerant when it comes to ugly things of other species than they are of perceived defects in their own kind.

But then I suppose when humans look at

Well, I think that’s being a bit harsh. And you know me (unless through some quirk of fate, that’s not the Chris J Capel I know) - you know I’m rabid about SS2. But that being said, playing the SS1 enhanced edition on GOG... they did incredible things in the first game, and it really blew me away just how well it

They are supposed to be an AI’s science experiment, remember, not zombies - they’re supposed to be almost comically deformed.

You really need to play both games. They’re both on GOG, and updated to run on modern systems; there’s no excuse. Even System Shock 1, running in its “enhanced” state, is quite playable now from a modern gamer’s perspective... and still genuinely scary.

I still think his work on Icewind Dale was some of his best. Not all of it, mind, but certain tracks were just incredible. Like the menu music. Just wait for that theme to sweep in, full of tragedy and triumph.

And all that, just as background music while you create your characters.

You know you can just extract the soundtrack from the game files, right? At least on PC.

What a shame you didn’t get to start with BG1 and 2. I don’t want to come across as some sort of snob; as much as I am gladdened by the wonderful memories you have of NWN... You really missed out. The beautiful, obscenely detailed and unique prerendered backdrops, the vastly superior writing, the greater freedom and

Nonsense. Every spell in the game... hell, every item, came with a full description (and in the case of items, some nice concept art - something that NWN sorely lacked).

The only thing you actually might *need* from the BG1 or 2 manual is the tables depicting class progression (like, what slots/spells you get at what

Um, Castiel is gonna throw a molotov at you.

E3 is usually reserved for stuff that’s further away. They tend not to spend a lot of money on promotion there, when a game is due in a couple of months.

Of course you also have to factor in the size of the team - despite Sony backing, the developers are pretty damn small. Even had they been on schedule, this close to

If the law were simple, and you could apply common sense to it, millions of lawyers would be out of a job.

Wow! is probably trademarked at this point. If not by a company, then by Taylor Swift and her sick beat.

If every copyright and patent older than 15 years were wiped from the system, due to the way in which the corporate world functions, it would be used by corporations to plunder smaller entities and individuals.

Gotta love the warped, broken, modern idea of capitalism.

My personal favourite actual failure screen though, was in Tales from The Borderlands, where you screw something up and explode in a puff of blood, and then it cuts to the characters saying something like, “That totally didn’t happen. Clearly, you didn’t die.”

It’s a valid point. I like the art style - thought it really really worked well in Tales from The Borderlands. But it is a bit overused now. I guess they’re a little limited by their engine... but still, they could do something to change it up a bit. Even if they were sticking to a cartoon look.

In this case, I think

“...You’re picking which campaign slogan Dent should use...”

Can it be, “CATCH A RIIIIIDE!!” ?

“GoG is the future.”

Which is why GoG and Steam accounts can now be linked. Seems pretty forward thinking and consumer friendly to me.
