A soft reboot, etc., is something that is meaningful to comic book fans; it is irrelevant to how movies work or what works for people who are non-comic readers or only casual readers.

Loved this episode. They don’t have the novels anymore and cannot adapt Martin’s dense plotting, but they make up for it by bringing together characters who have actually been apart for years, or never in scenes together, and making their reunions genuinely dramatic. I am surprised that there is actual chemistry…
Oh, my godless, what an interesting survey.
Movie goers don’t care about comic book universes, or fidelity to comic book story lines. One of the great reasons that Wonder Woman was a success was because they told a story focused on Diana, and avoided huge tie-ins with the DC universe and future movies. And even though some fans don’t realize it yet, even…
RE: Damnn .... you liked the TV show’s “flashpoint”!?
I’ll argue with Daniel Dennet any day of the week.
Flashpoint is unnecessary. Let’s see: in Justice League, the heroes defeat the bad guys and realize that hope is a good thing. Done.
I repeat, there is not really such a thing as cultural evolution. But if these saps want to waste time coming up with crap about cosmetic and genetic alteration, it’s fine by me. Clearly, some fanbois and gurls obsess about the phony, idiotic notion of canon for a fictional series, and can’t get to sleep at night…
I loved this episode. And had Jaime killed Dany, heads would have exploded.
This is why doing Flashpoint at all is stupid. It’s already been done, in the animated series and on the Flash tv show. And now they want to follow up the grim and dour Batman v Superman universe with an even more dark and brooding story that is only of interest to the most obsessive fanboys and fangirls. And on…
Oh, they definitely have their shoe horns all ready. They could use Wonder Woman in new and imaginative ways, if only they had some imagination.
I hate it when show runners come up with these lame explanations. They clearly don’t understand how evolution and natural selection work, and talking about “cultural axioms” is just nonsense.
Pop culture often absorbs and reflects political attitudes of the times. In the original “Annie” comic strips, Daddy Warbucks was a proud and out arms dealer, among other things. In TOS, the Federation was loosely the United States (and the United Nations), the Klingons were loosely the Soviet Union, and the…
I so DON’T care. Lots of stuff has quietly been cleaned up in Trek without any need for rationalization or explanation. The creators of the show’s mission should be to come up with compelling stories, not to waste time on fan-wank.
The Stono Rebellion actually took the fight to slaveholders, burnt plantations, attempted an escape. Burning up stores in your own neighborhood is not a rebellion, it’s a riot.
This happened to me in my senior year in college, but was similar to a couple of post college experiences. Through procrastination and stupidity, I got myself in a terrible jam which jeopardized my financial aid, and I was trying to unsuccessfully bluff my way out of it. Worse, I had worked myself into refusing to…
The ways of Holllywood are strange. “Wonder Woman” is a damned good movie, and Patty Jenkins did a great job. Assuming that she wants to do the sequel, and has some good ideas about what she wants to do, I would say sign her up and get the thing going. Done. Freaking. Deal.
The only “advantage white society can offer” Justine Diamond in her death is ... nothing. She is as cold and dead and destined for burial as any other person unjustly killed by a police officer.
Another day in which Trump accuses Hillary Clinton of unproven “crimes” while insisting that there is no reason for anybody to investigate his administration for anything ever. What a farce.
The poor child is dead, and there is nothing in the parent’s Christian beliefs that compel them to continue this futile exercise. The best thing this couple could do would be to find the strength in their faith to say goodbye to their child and to let her be at peace.
