I would argue that intriguing premise with weak execution makes for the best adaptations because you don’t have raised expectations or a sense of “we can’t change THAT”

They are seizing on stories that have certain cosmetic similarities:detained kids; and using the murkiness in reporting to conflate the two.

The only reason I wouldn’t use store bought sauces is that a lot have too much sugar or high fructose corn syrup. So even if you are adding your own accent, the sugar still remains. Def trying that toasted pasta method tho.
