I understand a (tiny) smattering of Spanish because I know French. Hopefully that means you’ll pick it up quickly when you start French. There are definitely some similarities.

That is also true. It’s likely with constant use you could get your levels back up again. But you really need to immerse yourself in it.

It’s mandatory where I am up to a certain age. It should be mandatory longer though. It’s easiest to learn when young and a year or two is never enough unless you have a natural talent.

I am very jealous of people so proficient in languages. I have to keep my second language in use or I get rusty.

Good for your mom! I love to point out when unilingual English speakers can’t even get their ONLY language correct. People who can speak multiple and keep them straight are amazing.

What I think is particularly notable is that because she mistakenly thought they were city workers, she felt she had a right to harass them (her tax dollars), but I would bet my life she is a #bluelivesmatter stan with no acknowledgment that police are also paid by tax dollars and therefore should be held accountable…

I have never heard of the lake but off to do some googling. Big lakes are dangerous. I grew up spending summers visiting Lake Superior. The number of shipwrecks is astounding. Drownings are no laughing matter either.

I was today years old when I learned they were brothers. To be fair I thought Boy Meets World was boring, even when I was a kid so I knew very little about it (like the actor’s name).

I find it strange it’s still used in the US. Canada does not use it to describe their First Nations/ Indiginous. To see it used so pejoratively by the President would be shocking if it were anyone but Trump.

The racists are simply going to glom onto this as proof that he died of Covid. Any excuse to avoid calling it police brutality. They won’t care. They won’t see a man begging for his life.
