That was the fastest lap during the race by Hamilton, he had the pole as well and the pole time was 1:32.237.

And in case anyone wonders what his time was and how it compares to F1:
-He did 1:46.0177
-F1 2018 Pole was 1:37.392

If you watched this race and didn’t enjoy it, you shouldn’t be writing about F1. If you’re watching F1 because you just want to feel knowledgeable and you’re also on the “F1 is boring OMG IndyCar has so much more passing” bandwagon, then go watch Indy and stop making uninformed takes about a sport you don’t even enjoy.

I think they didn’t do it because they didn’t have the pace and would only embarass themselves by trying it.

This is Jalopnik.

Verstappen with a Honda gets a podium in the first race of the season.

Not every race is going to be an interesting story for the ages. We’re lucky if we get 1 race like that per season in ANY series. Hell, the same’s true for most sports.

“I haven’t been properly invested in a season of F1 since 2012...”

Respectfully disagree - this was an exciting start to the 2019 season and portends a competitive season to come. Outside of the common sight of the Silver Arrow 1,2, a great deal of action is in store.

“I haven’t been properly invested in a season of F1 since 2012...”

You’re assuming he was addressing Hamilton, and throwing out old tired tropes.  You don’t like Hamilton “because”, but don’t project it on others.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. The new regulations have done their job, there was close racing and a ton of battles throughout the field. Bottas drove an amazing race and is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season. Sure, the headlines of a Mercedes 1-2 may be the same, but everything beyond that is all

Australia is not representative of pace for the season... at all. In 2017 and 2018, Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari won the Australian Grand Prix, but Hamilton won both titles. Seeing as how Ferrari’s pace was quicker in testing, I think Australia will be a fluke, and when we go down to Bahrain, we’re gonna see something

Shocking decision by Ferrari to seemingly order Leclerc to back off Vettel and then not have him pit to put on the softs to score an extra point. He had a cushion for a free pit stop, once again Ferrari strategy seems to be lacking.

If you don’t care about it, write about something else snark.

Stop trying to make them turn motorsport baseball into motorsport basketball. Nascar exists.  Watch that if you want unpredictable championships and lots of passing for the lead.

Translation: “Damn, this guailo reporter is asking too many questions, perhaps we should drive her off to a People’s Geely driver re-education camp!”

It did, but we couldn’t totally make it out with a translator because of the ambient noise at the track.

Why does the Mercedes-AMG Project One not count?

I found the sky commentary to be a joke. Everyone holds them on some exalted place over the NBC crew, but I have not found them to be better.
