Ugh, goddamn fuck all of these xenophobic assholes. And your “american made” “support local economies” bullshit is so transparent. It’s 100% about being racist and screwing over brown people. No matter that they are good, enterprising and hard-working people. People that embody the values that are what America is

That is so crazy to me. Straight up - I could not be a good mom if I didn’t have “time off”. I love my kid, and he’s amazing, but I can’t just be with him 24/7. I need adult time and adult conversations. But I’ve honestly never even met a mom who didn’t agree, or didn’t need the same things. Maybe people are just

but I do really enjoy not ever feeling judged for drinking/clubbing/travelling while my kid is being babysat.

A fellow parent gave you the stink-eye for calling your kid a jerk? There is not a parent alive who hasn’t called their kid that or worse. I love my little boy dearly, but there are times when he’s a real asshole; I have no issue saying this.

I live overseas, so I don’t follow politics from home as often as I did when I was there. However, after our recent election (I’m Canadian), I was sort of exposed to more online conversation about what’s happening. I could not and cannot believe this is a real thing. I guess part of me though the whole ‘Trump running

I feel terrible for Sinead. I grew up in Ireland and watched her go from a really strong, talented young woman who always had to guts to talk to power and took responsibility for way more than it was really her job to carry, to someone who just seemed to feel constantly harassed and lost in life, and with good reason.

I can’t think about it without wincing. I think it hurt so bad I felt it in my DNA.

Gah! This seems so horribly possible! I'm sorry for your mom!

Neither does s/he. ;)

Yikes. I met a woman once who had recently recovered from having a staph infection in her BRAIN. She was in a coma for weeks, and suffered a little brain damage. I have no idea quite how that happens, but it sounded utterly terrifying.

Holy hell. Cannot imagine how scary that had to be. And yes, this is just a big story because for some odd reason the hair tie on the wrist thing is trendy.

I think there was a spray involved. Also countless visits to both the ENT and an Infectious Disease doctor. She was in so much pain.

Wait, are you saying that Jez did incompetent sci reporting?

Yep, same. Under my arm. Had to sleep with my arm extended on a chair w/ pillows the pain was SO brutal. That’s real stuff.

My Dr. says MRSA actually lives in the “nares” (nostrils), and people with that specific type of staph can get a nose spray to treat it? I never followed up because life, but that may have been the case. Quite likely the case with this woman, too, if antibiotics didn’t work.

My mom got one from a nose hair.

Same here. No hair ties involved. The panic around hair ties is kind of silly since you can literally get this anywhere. Mine traveled into my bloodstream and I also thought I was gonna die.

Had MRSA also. Single infected hair follicle. Doctors said it was a freak accident. May becoming more common because of increased used of antibiotics - prescription and in foods. I feel for this woman - and will NOT look at photos- and you.

Ok, this explanation makes sense to me.

Appears to be a staph infection. We all carry staph on our skin. It was the constant rubbing from the hair ties combined with trapped bacteria. I’ve had this twice (MRSA, even, because I’m lucky like that). They hurt like an MF-er. I was certain I had cancer and was about to die. But ultimately it just needs drained
