Watching my dad use this (Zenith) to dial into a BBS and "trade" a copy of 3-Demon for a copy of Karateka. It was 1987, and I was four years old. The DOS-based menu-driven app launcher said "Piratez rule!" when it opened, and "May the farce be with you" when you exited. I don't think he had any idea at the time how

I think you missed the comment above mine. He was saying that website security is a bigger concern than securing access to a PC. Users are a major risk in any security system.

"PC is not the problem". Try telling that to anyone who works in enterprise security.

It would be kind of neat to have a tablet that could generate dynamic, tactile braille.

I do pay for Netflix, but I'd happily pirate the show so I can watch it _right now_.

Canon just showed off a 50 megapixel camera. With another decade of miniaturization, you might just be right.

I may be showing my age with this comment, but it used to be extremely common to see "If you like this game/program, buy it!" in the NFO files attached to pirated software. From what I hear, you'll still see it every now and then. While many people just assume it's a moral CYA statement, some actually take it to

Yeah, or 13%.

Well, there's a simple solution: just have the NSA verify every single user's legal identity. Officially, I mean.

If you ask most people to wait 10 minutes before deciding to eat cake or fruit, they'll just be 10 minutes hungrier when they eat the cake.

I use this all the time to access my desktop from my phone, but I still think it would be nice if it worked the other way (desktop accessing phone interface) too.

Any word on the Olympus TG-4? It's supposed to be announced at CP+ also.

"But even if it's only right two percent of the time"

This is much ado about nothing. Go into the options, un-check this, you're welcome.

+1 for Anker. I have a 16,000mAh unit from them, it charges my Nexus 6 3200mAh battery in two hours even. By contrast the "turbo charger" (Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 wall charger) takes 90 minutes. Not bad at all.

The Nexus line is fairly well known, but it only has a tiny fraction of the Android market share. Case makers make money by mass-producing their products, so niche phones like the N6 unfortunately get overlooked. It's water-resistant (there's a video somewhere of a guy purposely dropping one in a bath), but I don't

Can I get one of Mt. Katahdin?

Yeah, you've convinced me on the GoPro part. I'm attempting a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail this year, which is 2200 miles from Georgia to Maine. There are going to be a LOT of times when I can spare an hour or so on the summit of a mountain with a great view while I take a nap or eat lunch, or when I'll camp

I've been looking at the TG-3. Unfortunately it looks like that doesn't do time-lapses very well (it maxes out at 99 frames). The Panasonic TS5 does much better there, but has a narrower aperture. I'm half considering just using my phone (Nexus 6).

How does the Silver do as a point-and-shoot? I'm looking for something like this (decently waterproof/shock-resistant) to take on a long hike (think multiple months). I'll be using it more for photos than video, but the occasional action video or sunset/star trail time lapse would be cool too.
