I'd agree if phones lost 100% of their value in three months. However, most phones, particularly if not broken or abused, can very easily be sold for ~%50 of their initial value a year after purchase, and often for 25% after two years. That's not a consumable, that's an asset.

How is it not an asset? It's something that you purchase and retain until it loses its value or becomes obsolete, or is sold That's the definition of asset.

Yeah, I'm on an S3 and goofed- I bricked it with a bad flash, had to go back to stock, and installed the most recent stock ROM... not realizing that came with Knox and an unlockable bootloader. D'oh... that's why I'm anxious for a Nexus.

Actually I do- I buy phones off contract so I can keep my unlimited data on Verizon, which means since I don't have to worry about upgrade time frames I can keep the phone until it has no remaining value, or sell it for a depreciated amount and get a new one whenever I want. And I don't have kids, so I'm good with a

Locked bootloader is a dealbreaker. Otherwise I'd have a hard time deciding between this and the N6.

Well, for starters you can get it for less than $200 on-contract. Then you get a device that functions as a phone and is almost the size of a 7-inch tablet, but costs less than purchasing both and doesn't requiring carrying and managing two devices. Or, you can pay the non-subsidized price up front, and retain the

The Nexus 5 is getting Android 5.0. They're probably waiting for 64-bit mobile processors to update that size/model.

With all that space comes room for more battery, though it hasn't really gone above and beyond its competition where longevity is concerned, coming in squarely in the middle of the bunch with 3200mAh powering that beast in your pocket.

If the Verizon Moto S has a locked bootloader I'm going to be super pissed. Nexus 6 w/unlimited data would be perfect... but if it's locked I may as well go for the Note 4.

"Some booze at dinner" doesn't really imply alcoholism. "Having six shots and acting as if nothing had happened" might. The fact that you can consume massive amounts of alcohol without any effect _could_ imply that you've built up a tolerance to large amounts of alcohol by consuming large amounts of alcohol on the

I once had a doctor friend tell me that "the ability to hold your liquor is a strong indicator of alcoholism", and I remember thinking that was strange. But in this context it kind of makes sense- if your body lacks (or suppresses) the physical response to stop you from excessive drinking there isn't much else to get

Jeez. I enjoy a good drink now and then, but I don't think it'd be possible to join that top 10 percent (not that I want to). When I have a few too many my body makes it perfectly clear that it was a bad idea- I can't imagine being compelled to go that far every single day, back to back, all the time. I'd imagine

I can confirm the improved battery life. On a full charge, the watch goes from 100% at 8am to ~55% at 1am, and can last until I get home from work the following day without a charge. It also charges pretty quickly- if I toss it on the charger while getting ready for work in the morning, by the time I leave it has

Don't underestimate how sheltered small communities can be... or how willfully blind larger ones can be.

It's not a race. I suppose it could be considered both a religion and a heritage, since it goes by your mother's bloodline (if she is, you are). There are non-practicing Jews, and Jews who are uncertain if God exists, just like there are similar people of most other faiths.

With a name like that, whoever buys this is obligated to test it out by printing a Buster Sword.

But has it found the portal to the Black Garden?

Big screen phones appeal to people who prefer to have one device. As others have said, think of it as a small tablet that happens to make phone calls, that's how most people that buy them think of them.

That's my point. The Note 4 is all but guaranteed to have a locked bootloader, but aside from that it's an impressive device. The Nexus matches its specs in everything but the camera.

I have a Note 4 pre-ordered, but if the new Nexus has an easily unlockable bootloader I'd go with that. I'll take CyanogenMod over a slight better camera.
