So say we all.

And yet even though she has $170 million, she almost died from giving birth, which does not happen to 80% of women, even taking into account that black women are three times more likely to die in childbirth than white women in the US, in part because doctors tend to be dismissive of their complaints and their pain, whi

Regulate them like the publishers they are, make them pay their taxes, and make them pay a share of the ad revenue earned from content with the content creators instead of just being a gigantic tick sucking the lifeblood out of the media. Because serious journalism costs a lot of fucking money to do well. A serious

You have the freedom to get health care without worrying about the cost, whereas medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the US. You have the freedom to switch jobs without worrying about losing your health care. You have the freedom to take paid sick days and vacations. You have the freedom to take

Fuck off with that noise. When I eat out by myself with a book, I never take any longer than I do when I am with friends, and often less, and it is absolutely bonkers to assume that this person is one of those customers, since her letter doesn’t display any signs of an entitled attitude, nor does it mention any

Yeah, calling this a decline seems grossly unfair. Sometimes you simply can’t come back all the way from an injury, or it takes a really long time of taking it relatively easy.

My reaction to this comment has my cat looking a bit put out.

If they reported responsibly, Donald Trump would not be president, because he wouldn’t have been able to lie his way onto the 400 richest list, then use his presence on the list to convince banks to loan him more than he could ever pay back, so he could deliberately bankrupt businesses in such a way as to allow him to

I read the same words as you did, and I know what words mean. I am not going to continue this utterly pointless discussion.

The only comments that are implying that are from other people. However, I do see an explicit mention of the fact that AV Club had nothing to do with it in their next comment.

Saying that it has had serious repercussions does not in any way suggest that it is the fault of AV Club. Repercussions ripple outward and drown the innocent all the time.

I am delighted to learn that this exists.

I’m surprised one of those Paul people I hear so much about wasn’t there. He could have hitched a ride on a private jet owned by someone else who inserted himself into the story for publicity purposes.

Yeah, remove the word “brown” and it’s kind of sweet.

Because it never did before.

Oh, don’t hand me that bullshit. My point is that while it’s great and necessary that men are finally being called out, even before #MeToo, call out culture had gotten so extreme that someone like Dan Savage gets called out for being a misogynist or transphobic because of some jokes even though he makes the same kind

This kind of thing is one reason why the GOP is so passive about Trump. He provides them with so much distraction that they can get away with this kind of thing times infinity. They fully expect him to go down in flames, but the changes to the judiciary will survive a blue wave, and make it harder for a blue wave to

When I was a teenager, I used to sit by myself at a tiny window table at an Ethiopian restaurant around the corner from my apartment in DC. I’d alternate between reading my book and watching Adams-Morgan gentrify.

My freshly-showered feet look absolutely shocking after 15 minutes of walking my cat around a very small grassy courtyard, across a concrete path and up a set of stairs to a deck so he can survey his domain, only two minutes of which are spent actually walking. I put on shoes when we leave the property.

I cannot stand her voice, but I’m quite enjoying her as a cultural phenomenon.
