"You're going to have to live with this," hissed ARENA congresswoman Alejandrina Castro. "Abortion is just murder in disguise! Life starts at conception!"

This case is a horror. All progressives vote in the next election so that it doesn't happen here.

I'm just stunned at how sure some of the lawmakers are that she had an abortion. And, this is based on what evidence, precisely?

It's 2015. How much have we changed, really? The hatred of women is the last domino to fall. It is a heavy domino.

As someone commented in the last post about this story, this is already happening in the US.

I kind of suspect that religious extremists on the far right would be pretty stoked if the U.S. was like this.

I didn't think that it would be possible for legislators to be crazier than the Republicans in the United States but ok, thank you for proving that my lowest bar of expectations for politicians is still not low enough.

So fucking glad my dad immigrated to the US. I'm sure there are many lovely people there (basically my dad's whole family..) but I have no desire to ever set foot in that country unless they do some drastic changes.

Let me guess: the imprisoned women are poor and/or unmarried. And 18 and pregnant with her second child? That's the crime.

I don't disagree on 50 Shades itself—it was shit, and probably would have benefitted from more talented creatives polishing the movie. But James wouldn't sell the rights to the books without maintaining creative control—and I say good for her.

Oh lord, I have seen this article all over my facebook news feed this week and IT. IS. NAUSEATING. I was hoping Jez would make fun of it. :)

Mormon.

Her "vision" is "what if Edward Cullen weren't a vampire and he did have a lot of sex with Bella?" I am 98% sure that the director was desperately fighting to turn the books somehow, someway into a movie that wouldn't insult the intelligence of a normal adult audience. I mean, I hear what you're saying about

OY, could James' favorite movie picks be any more basic and pedestrian????

yeah, that doesn't make her 'the bomb,' that makes her just as creepy as any man in his forties preying on teenage girls. gross.

I have a friend in the biz, and according to him they are both well-known as pretentious, self-important jerks. Take it with a bag of salt, because rumors and all, but I guess that could be the thing keeping them together!

A general comment on principle: I am heartened to see that the author of the book—crappy as it was—was in a position to maintain control over her original creative. That's really unusual, good for James for standing for her vision. Anyone who got involved in the project knew James had creative control—you can't really

I got stuck at this too. (And before anyone asks, I feel the same way about men dating someone that much younger.) I mean, I'm 29 and I get squicked out at myself when I think someone that young is hot before I know how old they are...I certainly can't imagine being 42 and marrying someone with "teen" in their age.

I'm genuinely curious why older men looking for younger women are branded as creepy and this woman is praised for the same behaviour. Because, to your point, what could these two people possible have in common?

They can do as they please but I sure don't understand it

She sounds amazing, but am I the only one who wonders what a 42 year old woman could possibly see in a 19 year old boy other than his amazing good looks. I've met some really mature 19 year olds, but I would still feel like I was kind of babysitting someone if I dated someone that young (and I'm not even 30). They
