The Killing Joke looked like a different book on purpose. It was the way Bolland wanted it to look. Things like Batman having the yellow oval in the original edition were things he never intended to be included in his art.

I couldn't disagree more. The washes give a feeling of the old lights at the amusement park and such. It sets the mood for me.
