As someone else already pointed out though, you can cross-play Rocket League between XBL and Steam. If the developers of Rocket League can manage it then it shouldn’t be off the cards for Activision.

IIRC correctly though, the game servers are at Activision’s end. You can cross play between GOG and Steam on a few titles so I don’t know why it wouldn’t be possible on this occasion.

I think it is pretty clear at this point that what Microsoft want is to become a dominant player in PC gaming on their own OS platform and the only way to really ensure that is to undermine and eventually eradicate Steam.
