@Falmung: Customization was limited to armor colors and emblems. From what I understood from the article, Elites wouldn't receive customization in the the full retail game at all. Perhaps I'm mistaken. If that's the case, I'll be happy to admit I jumped the gun.

As a fan of multiplayer Elites since they were first made available in Halo 2, I'm a little disappointed that only Spartans will receive customizable armor.
