The US Economy was revving along just fine though the 1990s in the early 2000s. The Tech bubble did not have as much effect as the housing bubble did int 2008. As for the rest of the world, I am not as aware. I think Japan took it on the chin very badly and has yet to really fully recover.

Just imagine if Dodge themselves had built a carbon-kevlar-bodied mid-engine turbocharged supercar in the early 1990s.

I will never defend the “looks” of the Consulier. It was aesthetically one to the ugliest cars ever. And yet I love it because it was an ABSOLUTE of “function over form”that was not a race car on four wheels.
