So far it seems they are taking features from guild wars 2 and rift and repackaging it into a sandbox. At least that is what I think.

You should check out Mecha Fetus. Before Scott Pilgrim, it was more or less the face of Paul Robertson and company. If you look closely, you'll see that they've tended to work together in some capacity on almost every game project they've been involved in.
