Twitter's great as an ad-hoc local search engine specifically for events, especially in densely populated cities. When I used to ride my bike home from work in London I'd do a quick twitter search on a few bike related hashtags before I left. Invariably you'd find incidents, crashes, places to avoid or even downpours…
Less fun than Banjo Kazooie? The two games are almost the same. Hard to imagine liking one and not the other.
The thing I hate the most is that people fail to accept that the world of internet forums has its own emerging form of grammar, which is diverging from the real world.
Since we're all being pedants...
Where did it all go wrong?
The loss of Rare (the real Rare anyway) is one of the worst things to happen to Nintendo.
The two series have been closely enmeshed since the 90s. Same developer, both games nicking stuff off each other. The first BK was just DKC in 3d - then DK64 was almost a sequel to BK.
One am I the only person who preferred the N64 version of Donkey Kong to the 2d games? Even at the time the snes games never really did it for me. But the N64 game was just awesome, I wish we could get another game of that ilk.
If it were developed by the team doing a full game I might be more interested. A game like this might lead to some interesting breakthroughs in terms of combat and control systems that could make it into a full series title.
While I probably wouldn't go as far as to say Arnie was a favourite, Predator is without doubt one of the best films I've ever seen. One of those films that stands up to repeated viewings many times over.
Japanese market isn't actually very large. I can't find totally up to date figures for the PS3, but by last year they'd sold around 8.5M units in the life of the machine, which is less than 10% of the total sales of the PS3 and only equates to around a million and a bit per year. Important market of course, but in…
Doesn't really make a difference. Both consoles are selling as fast as they can make them, regardless of how many territories they're sold in. MS obviously feel that lower sales in more areas gives them a strategic advantage while PS feel that the reverse is true.
Has anyone installed this who can feed back on performance vs steam on windows?
Just shows you how far we've come in 10 years. What took a dedicated box in 2004 can now run with a higher res and framerate on a device that's a quarter inch thick with a HD screen and fits in your pocket.
Same with a lot of old games to be honest. if you update the textures it just highlights the low polygon count. If you improve the frame rate it sometimes highlights the low number of frames of animation. Not much you can do really, just take it or leave it.
I think these changes are already planned, if rumours are to be trusted.
I meant a huge corporation muscling their way into a niche scene like Microsoft, not making a loss like Microsoft.
I don't think they ever did make their money back. Its hard to tell because the figures relate to the gaming division and includes R&D costs on the PS4 as well as profit and loss relating to the PS2 and Vita as well, but I think they've posted a loss in every year since the PS3 was released.
Hell, the PS3 made a $2.8Bn loss in 2011 alone. I'd be amazed if they didn't make more than a $4Bn loss over its lifetime.
