That quote seems out of context, like it was a bad decision. In the article it seems more like he thought it a good decision, but that it was a big call at the time that he made just a month into his new role.

I just use a unicycle on a treadmill at a standing desk. Much easier...

I'm wondering if its a matter of what you played first. I played Dark Souls first then Demon Souls, and much preferred Dark. Playing Demon's second, I just saw a lot of rough edges appear that had been smoothed off in Dark.

Emulators of later machines typically need either a bios or key files dumped from the machine itself in order to run. Since these data and processes are invariably either copyrighted or patented (depending on what it is) then you're still running foul of the law. And while there may be some grey area around backups of

It would still be illegal. And since its not an old console, I guess the legal heavies at MS and Sony would be keen to nail it down.

There's a difference between something that is easy to pick up without guidance, and something is to easy to use once you've been told. Both are parts of being a good interface.

The difference between these consoles looks smaller to my ageing eyes than any of the previous generations I can think of. We're all here having to analyse hi definition vids or stills, stare closely at the screen and stroke our beards while trying to spot the difference between power lines in the distance. I mean

More anecdotal evidence - I know no-one with either. Sales must be dead all round.

The original target was 5M by March, which is still the target.

The point is that most people who buy a PC attach it to a dedicated monitor at a desk. You could stick it in a TV in the front room of course, but PCs just aren't geared that for on the whole. Thats the whole reason for the Steam machine & its controller, its about trying to get over that particular barrier.

Yeah agreed. There's a good rule of thumb that chefs have about the freshness of food - if there's a scrap of doubt, bin it. That's also a good rule for security, on phones or otherwise.

Far from it, he's pretty much the highest profile advocate of computers games I can think of in the uk. On screen wipe he regularly made the point that games are very much equal to tv or film in their ability to affect you. Gameswipe was a great programme and there's another computer game programme one on the way. The

Man, so right. Waaay too many games out there have bosses that require nothing more than figuring out some specific combination of moves, then making you do that ad nauseum. For every classic drawn out pitched battle between two close contestants giving it their all, there's a dozen simple trials by endurance. JRPGs

In the US do you have turkey on Xmas day too?

This must be some US thing. I fail to see how you'd get the two mixed up, assuming you had any vague idea what each of them was.

If it bleeds, we can kill it.

Its worth pointing out that games, and consoles, are getting increasingly expensive to manufacture and distribute. Not only that, they're entering into an ever more crowded marketplace with diminishing sales. The resources required to make a AAA game these days are huge.

I bought this because I like playing computer games, but when the kid's around I don't want anything inappropriate on screen. I'd previously played a few Zeldas with no problem. But as soon as I turned this on he became utterly transfixed and sat, zombified, in front of the screen.

Yay for back catalogues. My PS3 is just 6 months old and I'm working through all those games I missed over the last few years. Just started Demon Souls, which should take me to Xmas.
