I'm pretty much in agreement with you on this one. I also think the argument that it will increase gun ownership because "marketing that touts safety could sway those previously opposed to guns to make their first purchase" is pretty weak. I picture the market of people who would finally be convinced to buy a gun

Why worry? Each of us is wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back. Well, let's get ready. Switch me on. *Egon shuffles into the corner of the elevator*

Ghostbusters (1984)

I guess this case

"Because the film has a pro-environment message, Darren didn't want anyone drinking from plastic water bottles on set either."

The greatest trick DHL ever pulled was getting Gizmodo to advertise for them.

Welcome to Missouri. The joke is that there are two political factions here — the right and the far right.

...would be more effective.

"Attention! Attention! Actual fact-based science is being taught to your child! Please evacuate your child from his or her place of learning and convey them to the nearest fact-free zone."

Fuck it! Every time I find a good piece of software/gadget/doodad/whatever it gets bought out by gigantic shitty companies like Facebook, Microsoft, etc. that end up destroying the product, or at the very least making it riddled with ads and privacy concerns galore.

What was that we were saying to the disbelievers?

"a magazine is just an iPad that does not work. It will remain so her whole life"

"Add that with the fact that it's absolutely impossible to create your own technology."

for that one year old, "a magazine is just an iPad that does not work. It will remain so her whole life."

Was just going to say exactly that. I've seen plenty babies make those kinds of movements before iPads or touchscreens were around (former nursery nurse).

Because babies were such avid magazine readers to begin with.

If an adult would just show her once how to flip the page of a magazine, she would be fine. I don't think it makes a difference what tech kids are exposed to, as long as they are also exposed to everything else. When I was a kid I wouldn't have known what a crank phone was used for if I hadn't seen it on Lassie.

The baby was doing exactly what my older (pre-iPad) daughter did with a magazine at that age. Babies point and touch like that, iPad or no. Any parent would recognize that. Sorry, no amazing technological change in human behavior here.

And maybe not best of all time, but these were definitely up there:

Screw you guys for not posting this right off the bat. (no reason to post names or anything, WE ALL KNOW WHO SHE IS)
