I will agree.  The impact screwdriver is awesome in certain applications.

We had a major series of steps to register a car with a California salvage title in IL. They seemed aghast, aghast I tell you, that we possessed a salvage title as a civilian. They treated the car as radioactive, and yet also couldn’t tell us how to take car of the situation. We just kept getting “you can’t legally own

You seem to have strong feelings on this topic. Did you lose a loved one due to unsafe wrench physics?

To fit in spots in which a wrench is required and access is difficult?  On every car there’s that one job that’s a pain...

Mr. Crapfinger!  Thank you for completing my Christmas shopping for me.  Brilliant.

I’ve found square tubing flattened in the vise works well. But I was thinking more of a flat piece of metal with a slot cut in it, and a bit of a U-shape to go around the wrench.

For tighter spaces, it’s sometimes tricky...  especially if you need a 24mm pipe to fit around the wrench.  But, yes, I’ve got pipes and tubes as well.

I cannot figure out why no one has made a purpose-built “Wrench Buddy” for this exact purpose.

Well, I suppose.  Can we use the term “enthusiast” car?  It’s a shame to buy one of these to “collect” and not drive.  They are wonderful cars, just not incredibly modern (but modern enough for me!).

I know it sounds trite to say mileage doesn’t matter on these cars... but, if you’ve taken care of the body, replaced the suspension bushings (as likely has been done here) and a few other things, this is good to go. Ours has 220K miles on it, and feels wonderfully tight, still. Better than out 2005 545i with 60K

OK, for anyone for, or against, the “Greatest of All Time” honorific... It’s based entirely on when you are racing. Fangio wouldn’t even fit in today’s cars. And, Hamilton didn’t win titles with 4 different manufacturers. It’s hard to compare across eras.

This kinda looks like some Terry Gilliam-style Monty Python animation from the original series. While Python would have had Hilter screaming in German as the revs went up and down...

Born in Houston, can confirm.

Not sure how my wife factors into this... she’s got more track laps in this year than I do. I doubt the EVs can keep up with her.

Again, that’s the ‘Ring, which is a world-class facility. My local racetrack (Autobahn Country Club, outside of Chicago) also has a charger (non-denominational) for EVs. But it is a COUNTRY CLUB for rich folk.

Oh, I can see it. But, most tracks I visit barely have lighting, let alone 400v charging setups. I’m sure we’ll get there, but it may be decades away.

I have yet to see someone drop a 1,500lb battery pack out of the bottom of their Model S in any paddock, anywhere. And, during the summer, I’m usually at a racetrack twice a month.

Autocrosses and open track days are two different things, though. I want to see an EV that will do a full 20-minute lapping session, charge in 20 minutes, and be ready to go again. All weekend.  That doesn’t exist yet.

I can see your point on Zanardi... but that’s just how the guy is. He will legitimately tell you that if he hadn’t lost his legs, he would never have won those gold medals in the Paralympics. He is THAT glass half full. When I worked for one of his team’s sponsors in 2001, it was Alex that gave the tour of the

Weren’t they always? I mean, huge multi-national companies like Toyota and British-American Tobacco decided it was too expensive to run an F1 team. Red Bull, on the other hand, has TWO of them.
