This is when you take these rusty cars, find enough metal to weld a cage in it, and race it in Lemons.

On this particular car, it might not be a depreciating asset (but, cars usually are, like roughly 100% of the time).

I can see your point... but what I think is really at work here is two big things: Increased cooling needs (turbos) and increased use of aerodynamic to provide insane levels of grip.

Considering the likely low (by ESPN standards) number of people watching, they likely were not getting huge dollars, either.

Oh great googlymoogily! There is someone listening! Thank you, ESPN!

Thank you, Ryan, for continuing to pursue this and for elevating the standards of integrity of Jalopnik overall.

Thanks!

I believe R5 Turbo flares are required.

Thanks! It has been in a hill climb, and we might autocross it this year!

Miata oily bits with old German sheet metal? These are MY PEOPLE! 1934 Borgward Hansa 1100 over Miata F/R subframes. Probably the only pre-war rat rod Borgward in the USA. Mechanically, it’s 100% Miata, from crank to brakes.

Do it!

My sister worked for International Brands (or whatever it was called) in Chicago. She was in HR. It was exactly as bad as you describe.

That’s got to be total power. I’ve got a car that weighs around 1,600 lbs with 200 hp. 0-60 is in the low 3's.

I do full on track days with my Cayman S. Aftermarket TPC Racing turbo kit on it (about 400hp to the wheels).

You are telling me that your hovercraft is full of eels?

Then I won’t tell you about the one I own that looks 100% stock but has a supercharged Integra engine in it. I wouldn’t want to upset you further.

Wow... It makes this $13K CRX seem like a bargain.

It could be worse.

I was driving a manual 6 weeks after having both knees replaced. I was still on crutches. Find a friend, and you can do it, too!
