It’s Ice Cube Down for Whatever.
Great motor in one the worst built cars ever produced by anyone ever.
My commuter is small but luxed out and I take the wife to dinner in that, It does the school run well enough. It gets good mileage and it’s fun to drive. The truck does the ski trips, bike trips and boat trips and long road trips. It gets driven much less. It’s a well maintained cloth seated shit heap.
I remember…
I, personally, could not live with a Full EV as my only vehicle, so if/when I go EV, it will be a secondary (commuter) vehicle). For that reason, it needs to be pretty cheap.
I think price anxiety is far more of an issue than range anxiety.
Relive? Almost nobody respected a LeBaron or Aspen enough back then to drop a hard earned $ into a build. If you want to relive the 79s/80s this isn’t the car for you. This is a pioneer of the new era where the muscle car herd has been so thinned that you are now stuck with whatever sad relics are left.
You can go with Gladiator or Tacoma and they will be fine. You see tons of Tacomas. But our towns are small and our parking is limited and typically parallel and the ice and snow removal kills the fancy yellow lines they have in the city. It is often a very tight squeeze. . If you don’t need the bed, you don’t…
“Anyways, your anger is misplaced. Don’t blame people for coming into the area and spending their money on goods and services. The government still collects property taxes on their vacant houses. Enough of those houses are available for rent. Without visitors, ski towns die.”
How about this...
It’s not a mustang.
Almost all the hate listed here was rational.
A whole generation of kids will not have the option to live in the towns where they grew up so these folks can have trophy properties they can brag about at dinner parties.”oh, we just have a little place in Telluride/Aspen/Crested Butte.”
“You cannot afford a $40k vehicle? Given all that you state, why the hell not?“
How do I say this nicely....
With the Crosstrek they really hit the form factor usability nails straight on the head. Nobody else in that market space has the same level of desireability. But man, why the longitunal boxer and CVT combo? They could shorten the front overhang with a transverse motor and the problems of AWD in that configuration…
I completely understand why people buy Wranglers. It’s just most of them do so for image or imagined use. I am not convinced most owners actually love their cars. They love the image the comes with the long list of compromises and fantastical use cases. It’s a trade they are willing to make.
I too drive an ancient Tacoma (but I also rotate used BMW/Audi/VWs etc) I only feel comfortable with my rotating stock of fun eurotrash cars because I have the Tacoma to fall back on.
