I wouldn’t say straight line acceleration is the only performance matrix that matters.  If you want cheap in a straight line, you buy a Tesla.  If you want to go around a track quickly, there are many better options.

I understand the appeal of Tesla’s direct sales model and I encourage other manufacturers to adopt the same. However, if direct sales aren’t utilized, then I understand why people are going to dealerships.
