Fuck Tony Stewart in his down under. I’m still mad about the Rusty Wallace incident of ‘05.

Coming from the guy who owns Eldora, which has acres of room in the corners, this would be about as different as you can get.

Did you buy it with 300k on the odometer already falling to pieces?

Those are good examples!

I can vouch for NE modified circle track cars with extreme engine offsets...

It’s called a “super-modified” after all... a 3/1 wheel arrangement seems to fit the definition in my book!

An extreme example, for sure, but offset chassis were not new. Smokey Yunick’s stock cars from the 60's had the frame shifted left by shortening the left side A-arms and lengthening the rights and shifting the body.

“If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying.” -Smokey Yunick

He never even made it to a race. They got word of it and preemptively banned it to avoid a disruptive concept to damage the sport.

Or the first Daytona 500 after they mandated a fuel cell size. Nobody could figure out why Smokey Yunic got such good mileage so they took his tank out. (to check for a common “deflating basketballs” trick). He fired it up and drove it to his garage.

Not the infield garage.

The garage he owned in Daytona.

It wasnt

Technically legal is the best kind of legal.

I reckon the 70’s when pretty much everyone except Ferrari ran a Cosworth DFV mated to a Hewland gearbox. Still lots of innovation (ground effects etc) but then it was possibly for smaller teams to be competitive.

Even if you let plenty of engineering freedom, as you described above, there will always be a dominant formula. Like every year in the whole history of F1, there’s always one team that nails it more than the (2-3) others.

do not deny your destiny...

I honestly didn’t see much of an issue with the intersection myself, but I guess traffic laws are complicated when you ridea moose to work

Given that Multimatic pretty much overhauled most of the Riley work on the chassis, it’s likely it will. I’m surprised it’s not using their DSSV suspension though.

Oh my goodness, this is so NSFW, although the RX-792P is still my favorite non-787B Mazda prototype.

I mean, you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Kia is trying to convince people to either upgrade their Accord or undercut a lease from Germany. Given their resale value and market position, this is the best way to get customers behind the wheel. With all the complaints in the comments that said “Oh man
