Round peg, square hole.

All joking aside, it does have some of the same styling queues down to the horizontal streak on the door. Even the headlights from what you can see. You might be on to something. I mean thats a tube chassis to they can just pop that body work off and plop it on any old test mule to hide it better. I am never taking my

I don’t know, Turbo is all the rage these days. I don’t know if they will put a supercharger on a car that will be a “world beating” supercar. They do supercharged LT’s very well, so it makes sense. Just not sure people would consider it refined enough for the price point it will most likely be at.

For weeks I was convinced of the same. However, those rear haunches and some of the styling queues you can make out look very Corvette. I swore it was going to be a Caddy halo car to market along side the super successful Caddy IMSA program. The styling on the fender and the vague shape of the headlight looks corvette

After GM’s moved shutting down the ATS GT3 program and diverting resources to the Prototype, I could have sworn this was going to end up being a Caddy halo car. Having a mid engine super caddy to market along side the new racing program made senese. But, those rear haunches and what you can make out of the headlights

COTD LMAO. “Im no super hero, Im Frank Costanza’s mechanic”

2nd Gear: How many people are emailing and calling Renault saying “Man, I am not doing business with you because you do not offer an EV”? I was surprised to see that they registered 9200 of the Zoe electric car through July of 2017. By comparison, the Chevy bolt moved 2052 units in August of 2017 alone. Is the plan to

Ford Focus Margins edition. Blah.

I am hoping you are wrong, but this guy does not seem to have any type of affection for the automobile. I only base that assumption on the things he has said (and things he hasn’t said). He seems to be a numbers / wall street guy which is bad for everyone who reads this site.

You’re definitely not wrong. Ford has a performance pedigree and the performance models carve out quite a nice profit. I am just worried that it isn’t in line with the new CEO’s vision. Hybrid and Electric versions are all the rage right now. He is accountable to the share holders, not the fans. If they need more R&D

I think this also might be part of the “Slash and Burn” that was discussed in a post form yesterday. Ford’s stock price is on the rise and fatter margins will help it rise faster. In addition to the talk about Electrification, which the street gets all hot and bothered by, motorsports programs are all in danger. WRX,

Awesome write up! Another deep look into the foundation of motorsports in America and a very unique part of car culture. Keep em coming!!!

That is the thing, I don’t think it will be the Vette. I think Cadillac wants to differentiate itself from the Corvette. Merc, BMW, Acura, Audi, all have Halo models. I think this mid engine test mule will end up being a Cadillac. Its all about keeping up with the Jones’. GM has been making good money the last few

Yes, totally agreed. I admit I am looking at things through rose colored glasses. If I want to be objective, it could be that Stef was right. They are killing the ATS, so lets not put any more money into that. GM has the budget approved already, so lets just blow the money on making our DPi better for IMSA. Next

Alright, this makes sense. I saw a few articles about letting the Privateers tinker but I did not realize they were going to try and slow the Toyota’s down. Then maybe 2020 is the earliest we will see new Factory Prototypes on the grid.

It would be an EXTREMELY tall order. I just hope the ACO and a MFG is holding an ace up its sleeve. Otherwise, this will just be one of the most poorly managed declines I have seen in my 34 year lifetime. GT1, GT2, maybe even GTP / Group C seemed to have a managed decline. Wasn’t really old enough to know about group

You are on to something. I think this points to something HUGE for Cadillac in the near future. Have you kept an eye on the spy shots of the mid engine C8 test mule? It has some styling queues that are suspiciously caddy-esque.

I think that the development of the Hybrid power train needed to compete with Toyota is too tall of an order for someone like Cadillac or another DPi team to undertake. Unless they have been developing a power train in total secrecy, I don’t think they would be able to get something ready in time for LeMans. I think
