The irony of it is that this discussion has sparked mainly around FromSoft games, yet their games are among the hardest to actually “adapt” to a more casual audience.

And that’s the problem I have with this discussion. It’s only happening because there is a passionate fanbase around From Software’s titles, I mean if Sekiro didn’t win Game of the Year, I doubt we’d still be talking about this. When Death Stranding came out, if you didn’t like it, you just walked away. Same with a

Because not including difficulty options is objectively wrong, according to the discourse Kotaku subscribes to.

Why is it lagging behind to not include a difficulty modifier? Isn’t it a design choice for the developer?

I mean, you say that but almost everything else in this subgenre is a zombie shooter, also pretty played out. Also WWII shooters were certainly overdone a couple console generations ago but there really aren’t that many currently. All the classic franchises that were WWII-based switched to modern ages ago with

try Warhammer Vermintide 2, I felt the same way with B4B.

Well I completed around 75% of everything and had 340 hours put into it so maybe not too far off?

Most likely this number is tied to the fact that (according to earlier previews) your decisions in the game can have huge ramifications. Entire questlines will or will not be available as a result of your choices. So to see absolutely everything the game has to offer will require beating the game multiple times.

Not to mention the original Dying Light was in 2015, not 2018 as the article states. The link even goes to a review from Kotaku in 2015 so not sure how you get that so wrong.

it’s to 100% it, it’s a 25-30 hour campaign...this should have been listed in the headline too

That would require Kotaku to actually do simple research, which is largely a thing of the past with the majority of the writers.

you don’t have to play it you know, or finish it if you get tired of it. I love these long coop games cause I don’t live next to family and friends, so having a whole lot to do when I want to spend time with them is a huge boon and why we’re picking this game up. It might take a year to make it through everything but

They clarified the 500 hours is if you wanna replay the game with multiple endings and decisions. the campaign and side quest are no where near 500 hours in a single run. this headline is misleading and so is the article that follows it.

We have plenty of those still

That first paragraph sounds like you’re talking to me personally and dude, wrong tree. I haven’t played a battlefield game since bf 4, and never visit the subreddit.

You got something on your nose...

Honestly, it just depends on your definition of toxicity. Death threats or threats in general? No, people who do that have a whole different set of issues.

But telling people they can’t be angry and vent that frustration on a public forum? Either you’re trolling or come from some higher

Man, “global director of integrated communications for shooters and Star Wars" is a WILD position title lol

Is it the players putting the Reddit mods in a difficult position? Or the game devs and publishers who release incomplete and broken games literally every year?

That little worm went on twitter and said we were being unreasonable for wanting things like VOIP, a scoreboard and a working game. He then gaslit then entire fan base and now they’re reaping what they sow. They deserve whatever vitriol that comes their way.

Has there been a single Square Enix game that included a means to encourage mod making like the Fallout games?
