Except it isn’t a simulator. It never claimed to be.

It’s definitely not more shooty. I’ve sunk countless hours into the SWAT games, and already have 20 hours in this one. There’s more than enough less lethal weapons currently, with more likely to be added in the future. It’s focus is still very much on going slow and working with your team to breach and clear rooms. In

“there’s no debate, conversation, or discussion.”

The person that check’s people’s bags for contraband at the beginning of the day to confiscate iPods and whatever else, but cowers in the cafeteria the second a couple teens from a different school show up to rough up some student in the hallway.
I typed up a different comment but it looks like it didn’t post.
Anyway,

My thoughts exactly. Its not really the content that gets me, it makes sense for what they’re making. It’s just the borderline gleeful response to the question, as if they were asked “are we going to disney land this year dad?”

I seriously doubt this had anything to do with a potential school shooter level. First of all, Team 17 would have already known about this when they first signed the publishing deal. Publishers don’t sign games without knowing what they’re signing up for. They would have reviewed the GDDs before finalizing any

I mean i see how and why a swat game might have this type of level. After all its the equivalent of a terrorist attack and most swat games have those. And its not a cartoony type of game nor does it feature the player as the school shooter.

I agree with you. We all agree with you. Now, please, kindly fuck off.

I get that this is a sensitive topic in America, but the entire point of the game is to defuse and deal with these situations. They aren’t supposed to be comfortable, or heartwarming. SWAT 4 had some very dark scenarios, and this is the spiritual successor to that, and I’m fulling expecting to be put into some very

Speaking of someone who was caught up with a gunman on campus in high school (thankfully he was only there to take a hostage and get a suicide-by-cop), can definitely vouch for SWAT being patched in. Gunman met his end from a sniper on the roof.

I don’t see the problem. Yes, it’s a hot button topic that’s based on serious social issues, but it’s still just a game. The controversy over this is as dumb as the controversy over the No Russian level, or going back further, removing a map involving storming a plane in a Rainbow 6 game and changing a related map set

Every realistic police/military game is, essentially, a tragedy simulator. Since people want to play them I don’t think tragedies should be ranked with some worse than others. Unless the game is advocating for the awful events, of course.

Of course. I’m talking about people criticizing the game. If they want to use it as an opening to discuss the militarization of video games, the police and society in general that’s one thing but school shootings aren’t sacrosanct.

Intolerance is not my type of thing. But this subject is clearly something you don’t want to discuss in any way. It’s something you want to make a statement about.

“It’s a curious development, made more so by its timing. When asked on December 19 in the game’s subreddit whether Ready or Not should have a school shooting mission in the campaign, a Void Interactive developer under the username Gruntr said “you better believe it’s gonna,” all but confirming the mission’s planned

Swat occasionally gets dispatched to active shootings (including school shootings) and seems like it’s more in line with gameplay (at least from how the article makes the game sound) than being a single resource officer.

I’ds say it’s the same as the backlash agaisnt 6 days in Fallujah vs/ the yearly CoD’s. Time is the main factor

It’s already on Steam with a ton of sales, so the game will generate revenue even without a publisher.

I mean, I guess that would apply to almost any level and any game you play as a SWAT team.

That’s a tone deaf response on if they’ll have a school shooting level. I’ve seen gameplay of said game and it’s pretty good. It'll be a shame if this ge never gets published.
