Two clickable trackpads are the most prominent feature of the Steam Controller. a pair of touch-sensitive pads with resolution approaching that of a desktop mouse. It's the logical halfway point between mouse and gamepad control.

This.
"The next step is to build a functional proof of concept in the form of an exciting prototype"
Custom Hardware was not on the table. The scope of the project was to produce a fun and functional playable prototype which uses existing hardware, the idea being that they would then be able to leverage this prototype towards securing additional funding *or* license the engine to other game companies. They did not…
Uh, the scope of the kickstarter campaign did not include making a new peripheral. In fact they specifically stated that the initial goal was to build a functional game engine which uses *existing* hardware technology.
Reminder: you are not a customer on Kickstarter. You are a tiny venture capitalist, taking tiny little risks every time you put your money down. Sometimes you win! Or, in cases like this, you lose.
Well the good thing is that all the high-end backers get handmade swords, so there's that.
I love Stephenson but he's an asshole here. Fact of the matter is the kickstarter was supposed to fund the creation of a fun and functional prototype which could then be used as the building block for much bigger things. Based on the updates and the complaints about difficulty finding further venture-capital funding,…
Seriously. Give this guy half a million dollars and we'll have a realistic sword fighting game. We'll also have a youtube video every time he adjust the way light reflects off the sword's blade, but hey - he'll get things done.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
I can't even see any people in the 1st image - but I guess that's part of the point. I suspect a big part of why the sense of scale feels off is because even the largest ships are still designed to be made into relatively small physical boardgame pieces, and it would be boring/ugly if the jewel of your fleet was just…
I think it's because STEM has a conventional controller component to it, while PrioVR as near as I can tell is *just* motion tracking. It's way easier for me to imagine using a STEM system for somewhat conventional gaming in the near-future, while PrioVR seems better suited towards a full VR experience.
I understand that in the game they are supposed to be huge, and I agree they look like flying cathedrals. That's why it's weird that some of them are supposed to be several kilometers long, and yet visually even the largest ones look like single cathedrals rather than massive cities filled with cathedrals and…
Really wish there had been fewer Warhammer ships on there to make room for something else. Plus the Warhammer designs make no sense for the size - based on the level of detail in the designs they should all be around 1/10 of their supposed numerical size.
It was at the very least a prank.
Except you're wrong. There's nothing specifically anti-corporate about it. The ad portrays industrialized, heavily processed, centralized food production, which, yes, is of course performed by corporations. When people speak disparagingly of corporate culture, of corporate greed, of corporate excess, they are almost…
Watched 1st episode just now, and it was all LOLRandum BS which fell pretty flat. Does it get better as it goes on? I enjoy Adventure Time, which follows a pretty similar template, but somehow works way better. Worth a second chance?
"Kojima is thoughtful, but he's also sort of an idiot . . ."
What if I don't want to go "all the way or not"? Maybe that's just a weird cognitive tic of yours which you're trying to force on other people? In almost all situations, going partway is much better than going either "all the way" or "not".
Does anyone know why they changed the character models to have smaller butts in the first place? it seems like kind of a weird thing to do, especially since they didn't even bother to adjust any of the clothing to fit the new character models. Were people complaining about the butts being too big?
