This discussion and others like it go nowhere if we're not willing to take it to its logical conclusion which is that it's not OK to be mean to people or deliberately try to hurt their feelings. I don't think we're going to get to that place, though, because so much of modern culture, and especially internet culture,

Not disagreeing with you about the versatility of First-Person camera, but why is 3rd person a dealbreaker for you?

It's worth remembering that back when all the furor over the FPS started, the strategy game sequel/remake hadn't been announced, and there was no indication that such a game was in the works.

Right, because women are super-attracted to men with their balls half-hanging out of their clothes. It's exactly the same, but reversed, because that's the kind of character a sexist woman would draw if sexist women were in charge of this game.

Honestly, writing this article and drawing attention to this game is almost as bad as having made it yourself. If you recognize that the content of the game is offensive and hurtful, then you don't need to be advertising it on a popular games blog where many more people will be hurt and offended by it than if you'd

Except this does not actually represent peoples' changing interests over time. All this shows is the relative level of interest between different age groups. There's nothing here to indicate that a 20 year old now is going to be disinterested in video games by the time he's 60. All we know is that right now, most 20

Angry dogs, monkeys, and crocodile people suddenly jump through plate glass windows. Also you have limited saves, limited ammo, and limited space to manage your inventory. Also no regenerating health. People hate all of these things and they're not allowed in games now, but the end result of all these factors is that

Seriously? Seriously? We should just shut up and purchase products on their own terms regardless of how we feel about who is behind those products and what kinds of people we're supporting with our money?

That makes sense to my extremely untechnical mind.

Well, there's a tech demo of something like that, though it uses a different headset which has better motion detection:

Everything about this looks terrible, but I'm still glad it exists because I'm hoping that it represents a progression of Indie retro game aesthetics to the next age after 8/16bit pixellated sprite graphics.

VR head tracking would be great for RTS games because you could quickly glance around the battlefield without having to reposition the camera. It wouldn't work well with the current version of Oculus Rift because it's too low-res and it's really important to be able to distinguish all the units in the battlefield, but

Maybe. I will say that I always hated playing fps games on the wii, where you would "push" your viewpoint around by moving the targeting reticle around a bounding box. Most of the TF2 aiming methods seemed to be variations on this. For some people it's probably fine. I think it would bother me too much to get any

In my opinion Metroid Prime is objectively better than Super Metroid. Here's my ranking because it's Very Important:

There's no question that it would be a waste to buy one at this stage if you're not a developer. I'm still interested to see how this develops and might get one in a year or two if they fix the motion blur and and resolution issues.

I kinda suspect that this is not going to be well-suited for the standard "sit in a chair and play with mouse and keyboard" setup, no matter how much they fiddle with the controls. I've read the descriptions of all the configurations they came up with for TF2 and I imagine they would all drive me crazy.

I dunno. I certainly *can* be resource-intensive if you have all the settings maxed out and especially if you install extra shaders and such, but the basic "vanilla" minecraft isn't too bad and I would think it's one of the few games that would be well-suited to a 640x480 resolution.

I'm kind of astounded that we haven't seen anyone using this for minecraft yet. Seems like a natural fit.

It's absolutely not enough on its own, but as one component of a system it has the potential to be a key part of something pretty amazing. Have you seen this video?

There were some video Half-Life and Crysis demos on youtube a week or so ago which used a gun controller and the oculus headset together, and they worked independently of each other, so this is probably something similar.
