Agreed. Borders was done in by its bad real estate deals. Yes, brick and mortar stores are under increasing pressure from e-book sales, and retail is down overall in just about every category. But other stores (chain and indie) are under similar pressure and haven't been skating on the verge of bankruptcy for years

One of my friends used to work for American Kennel Club's magazine, and she would always get comped tickets. Between going backstage and petting all the dogs and cheering at the Best In Show competition, those were some of the most fun nights I ever had in NYC.

Billy Ray could have fixed EVERYTHING.

Giant sighthounds are awesome. This is well-known.

This is all true and no one's denying it, but you're basically just derailing, aren't you? Because none of those things have to do with Lara Logan. In every comment thread about a woman being raped, there's someone coming in to say "Men get raped too!" And in just about every thread about violence towards an American,

Your point being what, exactly?

Agreed. There's real value in going public and bearing witness, as painful and difficult as it may be.

It's unclear who Lara Logan's attackers were, but unfortunately, sexual assaults on women who protest or are otherwise involved in demonstrations or opposition is not unusual in Egypt. Sexual violence and harassment is an endemic problem in Egyptian society, and sexual assault has been used by the police and military

Give me a fucking break. By that logic no women should be sent to do their jobs anywhere there are men who might attack them. Which means...oh yeah! We stay at home! Where we belong! So no one soils our purity!

I just had a reuben and a milkshake for lunch. Hope there aren't any paparazzi on my way back to the office.

My personal criteria: Will there be sexytime? >> will sexytime partner care if legs are hairy?

What I wouldn't give to see her go on his show. It would be a fucking bloodbath.

@LilyHammer: Got the crazies. And she's the classic insecure social climber who can't afford to fight with the lead girls (Lisa, the Maloof) so she immediately zeros in on the weakest of the bunch (Kim) and begins to pick on her for no reason.

Excellent. I like good news in the morning.

@CLo116: You had me at Old Bay. It is the One True Seasoning.

So basically she's just a real-life version of Thackeray's Becky Sharp?

@BearDownCBears: It pretty much is the argument used in favor of vouchers, although I don't think vouchers would be practicable in NYC because ridiculous numbers of people would try to send their kids to the same handful of schools—they'd have to switch to a lottery system, probably.

I have seen this happen many times in NYC—-people will fudge their addresses in order to get their kids into one of the desirable zoned neighborhood schools. It's easy in a city where most people rent.
