This is kind of funny, because in her book she says that storage systems are for hoarders, and if you buy storage stuff you are basically lying to yourself and hiding your clutter.

I don’t think any of this is wrong, but I don’t it contradicts the article. The key point of connection is this phrase: “when you get tired of them choose something else.” Another way to put that point is: don’t be afraid to make big changes in your life.

The other side of the coin is in play too. By the time you get to a shiny sink, you probably already have 95% of the rest of the cleanup/organization done.
