Yes, gods forbid we have actual civil discourse and dialogue, especially when we’re seeking to educate ourselves.

This is a serious issue I see cropping up. You can’t bitch about people not knowing things and also be willing to not tell them when they ask about those things in good faith.

Because apparently white people are not allowed to ask POC questions about racial issues. They are supposed to magically glean a nuanced, deep, and 100% perfect understanding of the issues via Google because having a productive and earnest conversation with a real human is expecting too much.

The reason she contacted her in the first place was because of comments Margaret made about Tilda’s casting. It’s not like she picked a random Asian person out of a hat . Margaret made comments about Tilda being cast in a role. Tilda decided to contact her and talk to her.

How is asking questions equated as have Cho do Swinton’s “intellectual labor”? That assessment seems colossally unfair.

It really seems like Cho brazenly misrepresented their conversation. Huh! Not a good look

How did a copy/pasted email exchange between 2 other people involve any bias on the part of Rich?

Totally how I read it too.

I’m having difficulty understanding Margaret Cho’s perspective here. It sounds like Tilda was up front about the issues, expressed her desire to do something about it and sought advice from someone who is in a good position to provide it. And Cho’s responses were thoughtful and measured as well. Not sure what got lost

The point in my life where I feel so old I have absolutely no idea who this is someone change my bedpan please.

You can say that “racism is prejudice + power” as much as you want, but “racism” is an actual English word with a defined meaning. A meaning that I googled.

Yes...yes it is because it implies that “self-serving, starved-for-attention, lies about rape”...is “a white girl thing”. Last I checked, pointing out someone’s race when perpetuating a MYTH is...wait for it...racist.

Racial then, she brought race into a situation where it didn’t belong, and she used the fact that Kesha is white to say that she deserves no sympathy for what she’s going through. If you define racism as something only white people can commit, then sure it’s not racist, but it’s definitely racial. If you define it the

Outrage? That’s 6 lines of mostly amusement at your almost endearing white guilt. I understand how racism works too and trust me, you don’t have to self-flagellate and acknowledge white people’s guilt in order to call out Miz Jenkins what she is: a cunt devoid of any empathy.

I’m pretty sure making racist statements isn’t for you or anyone else to judge as “deserving”.

I don’t know why her whiteness has to be emphasized at all. As if it depended on your race if you lie about rape or not.

I called it racism because if Kesha was black, I seriously doubt the commenter would be accusing her of lying.

Because it was an awful thing to say. It implies women fake rape for attention on the regular. It supports sexist beliefs. It doesn’t matter if she knows the judge or has read the records. She isn’t just implying Kesha, who has, by the way, basically given up her career, is lying and just wants attention. (By being
