Holy shit, I've riden in or driven 34 of those.

@LaughingAtFate: I think the S1 Range Rover was built into the 90s. I've seen, and regularly still see, loads of '91/'92 registered cars.

Nice price.

There's nothing about this story that makes sense.

I read about a guy installing one of these in a Vauxhall Omega (which non-Yurpeans may have seen wearing a Cadillac lounge suit) but I've been Googling like a motherfudger and can't find where I saw it.

@Kuang: I don't think there was a 3 door hatch with 4WD but there were plenty 4WD five door hatches, saloons and estates.

Was the Newport made in Europe?

@MaxSmart32: I did Reno and Lake Tahoe in an Altima in 2006, I was really impressed.

Do you want it to look like a rental and get a few laughs or are you hoping to impress someone by driving something that you wish was your own car?

I'm fine with the Welsh badging but I'm pedantic about Minis that claim to be Coopers but aren't.

I hate to be a hater but this makes no sense without the diesel option. Similar power, more torque, 40mpg (euro).

I may have imagined this...

I remember when my Dad got one of those in '92, it was the very acme of modernity after years of Saabs.

@joshman: I think German manufacturers have adopted 'blue' as a moniker for technologies knownin the rest of the world as 'green' because the Germman Green Party are in government and they don't want to have a political affiliation.

@amblito: A ye olde Top Gear episode had them trying to outrun a standard issue UK police car - A Vauxhall Astra running the legendary 1.7 litre turbo diesel. That segment filled a LOT of time on the show. Even The Stig couldn't make it look exciting.

@layabout: They were also pretty awful.

Who has right of way and which side are they even supposed to be driving on?

Hang on, did the car enter the canal on one side, skim across and nearly make it out of the other side?
