Agreed - I can never understand why boring men like George Clooney get all the press when there's a Cillian Murphy in the world. He is sublime.

The first three paragraphs read like a letter to Penthouse Forum.

Never heard of Suspiria. I will definitely track that down.

I think you hit on why it works for me - the first episode made it clear that this was not even attempting to be anything but a low-brow, carnivalesque thrill ride and so I never had any expectations to ruin.

3 questions.

I think Satan did the raping, not Rosemary, although that gave me a laugh.

Heh, didn't even catch that. That is kind of a cool idea.

Thank god. If only science triumphed over ignorance more often.

I just hope The Entity, Carnival of Souls and The Shining (Kubrick version) make this list at some point.

This show needs to move faster. Also, I worry that uneven writing is going to be the bane of this season. I know this is only the second episode but already there's a palpable lack of cohesion. The episode starts flowing, then stalls, flows then stalls.

I've had a Kindle since they first come out, but only use it at the gym and on planes. Otherwise, it's print for me. I love physical books, not just reading them, but owning them. I love looking at their spines in my library and feeling all of the associations with each title. I just had to replace a favorite book I

I have the DVD of Orgy of the Dead, but I didn't realize he put it in paperback form. I'm curious how long it is.... the "movie" is 90% strippers awkwardly dancing to 60's burlesque music.

That's Orgy of the Dead. It's a great DVD to have on in the background at a party.

Agreed, and it was refreshing to see them confront something they couldn't get the best of. They're too lucky too often. This was a nice change.

I had my head in one of those things at a salon Thursday. It's a good thing this episode aired after, not before.

Yeah, I can't figure the age out because it was child-sized in 1978 but now it looks really old.

I can't believe that. I was planning on skipping it anyhow, but that would have pissed me off. I thought the Bloody Mary scene was creepy.

I thought Constance's gaze was just a fond look at a son who clearly has issues with her. Tate's sweaters and love of Kurt Cobain peg him as a 90's kid for me, who was born in the mid to late 70's.

I don't understand why Moira is seen as an old woman by women if she died young. I know her comments tie into it, but it doesn't make sense. So she's an old soul and that's how women see her??

I think the thing in the basement is one of Constance's kids - not Tate, a different kid. When the twins were killed in the pilot in 1978, it was by a child-sized thing. I think that's the same thing living down there now (only it's grown up) and it's a sibling to Tate and Adelaide.
